What is the Condition Improvement Fund?

CIF is a yearly bidding round run by the Department for Education (DfE) for academies and sixth form colleges to apply for capital funding.

The purpose of the fund, which typically opens between October and December, is to address condition needs to keep buildings safe and in good working order.

Where there is no energy efficiency savings produced, the fund is provided in the form of a grant.

If the project works include an energy efficiency aspect, an interest-free loan can be applied for as part of the CIF bid, which our consultants also manage. The Salix loan must be paid back within an eight-year payback through the energy savings.
